First Major Renovation: The Hallway!
We've been living in our house for a few months now and it's starting to feel like it's "our home." Besides just getting everything in operational order and doing basic gardening/weeding, the first major renovation that we tackled was "the hallway." It was awkwardly placed, sort of like a mudroom in the middle of the house, and it needed to go.
I would love to know why the previous owners of the house thought that building a mudroom in the middle of the house would be a brilliant idea. One of the first things we decided, when we put an offer on the house, was that the mudroom/hallway/awkward space in the center of the house had to go. And as of today, it's gone! Thanks to Alex of Meadowbrook Renovations and his team for knocking that item off my to-do list :-) All Shaun and I had to do was the paint and shelving.
Here's what the view from the kitchen towards the hallway looked like:

Guest room closet in re-hab:
Beautiful open view from kitchen to living room:
Step 2: re-build the closet.
Tear out remaining wall near the kitchen - now you can actually see the kitchen (very "Open Concept").
Replace new studs and rip out the damaged white oak:
Drywall and hardwood floors finished:
Add some paint and decor....
And some nice industrial-style shelving (Fixer-Upper style)...
And we've finally got a functional, beautiful living space that I'm in love with!
